Welcome to our dedicated Awareness Week Centre. Here you will find the latest news of RSI Awareness Week Activities, and resources to help you join in.
Participation is the key message of RSI Awareness Week, which runs from 23rd to 29th February 2004. That means participation by fellow-workers, the community, family and friends, line managers, directors and union members. With 1 in 50 of all workers in the UK reporting RSI symptoms (according to TUC figures) and 5.4 million working days lost each year because of the problem, RSI is an issue for everyone.

Local Events Nationwide
We will be carrying details of local events being organised around the UK during the Week. News already in appears below.
- Raffle! Injury Prevention Limited (a multi-national company specialising in massage training and sales of American Earthlite massage furniture) is raffling a top of the range portable massage couch package and massage chair package, kindly donated by Earthlite, with proceeds being donated to the RSI Association. They will be demonstrating the couch and chair and selling raffle tickets at British Beauty (NEC, Feb. 22/23) and Professional Beauty (Olympia, Mar. 21-23). You can also purchase tickets to try and win these great prizes by contacting Injury Prevention for details on 01924 223 225.

London: the London RSI Support Group is organising a Repetitive Strain Injury Information and Advice Day on Saturday, 21st February 2004 in association with the Musician's Union. It will be held at the Musician's Union Head Office, 60-62 Clapham Road, London SW9 0JJ and will run from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Nearest Tube: Oval.
- Department for Education and Skills (DfES) are making several announcements about RSI Awareness Week on their internal news pages as well as putting up daily tips supplied by the RSI Association.
- Norwich Union Occupational Health Centre in Norwich are making information about the Awareness Week available on the intranet for all their staff.
- Amicus (the largest manufacturing union in the United Kingdom) are publicising the week in their Health & Safety Newsletter. They have also printed the Awareness Week pack in bulk which is available to their members.
- East Lancashire RSI Support Group have obtained a grant from Blackburn Council to raise awareness by sending posters and RSI information to junior and secondary schools, advice and neighbourhood centres and GP surgeries.
- Corporation of London is carrying
out a RSI Awareness survey of businesses for which the Corporation is the
enforcing authority for the Health and Safety at Work regulations.
Preliminary results will feature on this website.

Freddie Tetlow & Lorraine Ereira, students at the University of Kent are staging a "Working for Health" promotion event on Friday 5th March 2003. The event will take place at the local newspaper offices -KM News Group, Chatham, Kent and will focus on management of RSI, low back pain and headaches. The packs produced by the RSI Association are being used for this event.

Roche Products Limited (a healthcare company) has several display boards and is using the RSI Association’s information and posters. They constantly do workstation assessments but will use the opportunity to promote this service wider. They are also distributing email alerts and using the RSI quiz (provided in the awareness week pack) with a prize as an incentive.
Awareness Week Pack
The RSI Association has prepared a downloadable pack containing posters, activities, a sample press release, a quiz and other items to help you involve work colleagues, your local community and family and the media in RSI Awareness Week. You can print out and distribute as many copies as you like.
The pack is available in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. You can either download it in two parts (the posters and the activity pages), or item-by-item from the listing below if it is too large for convenient download.
The 7 colour posters are A3 size, but the free Acrobat Reader allows you to re-size them to fit an A4 printer. The rest of the pack is A4 size. If you have any problems downloading and printing the Pack, we may have a few copies in the office we can send out by post, for a small donation to cover our costs. Please contact us for details.
